How do I send money to family outside the United States?
Before you pay, the transfer company is generally supposed to show the total cost, the exchange rate when one applies, and how much the recipient should receive. Compare those figures on the company’s own screen. This page does not recommend a company.
What to do next
- Read the CFPB page on sending money. Use the prepayment disclosure from the provider, not a rate screenshot sent by someone you do not know.
- If someone rushes you to send money, buy gift cards, or share a verification code, stop. Contact the company through the phone number or site it publishes. Reports of internet crime go to the FBI’s IC3. Nothing here promises the money will come back.
- The banking section of this guide collects the official pages. It is not a transfer service.
